Preston Square received the 2007 Ottawa Urban Awards “special jury award”. Douglas Associates Landscape Architects was the design consultant for this project, from concept to completion.
The jury singled out this entry for recognition because it crosses so many categories and demonstrated a “… transformation of a parcel from a suburban office park form into a remarkable mixed-use neighbourhood centre. Employment, housing and retail have been masterfully combined in a very complicated urban design that … is very simple and legible.”, and that the project is “… able to successfully urbanise an impossible site.”
The atmosphere Preston Square improves every year as the plants mature, and remains a special place on Preston Street of which the project team can be justifiably proud.
