Our Team

Marietta Ruhland

Principal of Ruhland & Associates Ltd.

Marietta is an advocate for bringing nature close to home, whether it’s through a portion of a school lot dedicated to outdoor classrooms, viable tree plantings, or preserving and enhancing existing natural environments.

Inspired by childhood summers camping in Algonquin, Marietta brings her passion for the wilderness together with her love of math, science, and art to create beautiful, sustainable designs.  

Ali Ahmed

Landscape Architect

Ali studied in Australia and Canada, completing his Bachelor of Arts (Architecture) in Australia and his Master’s in Landscape Architecture in Toronto. Ali enjoys place making through design and collaboration with people, environment and culture. He has a special interest in restoration of cultural landscapes and seeks to incorporate these ideals into his design.

 

Tess Frost

Landscape Architectural Technologist

Tess is passionate about sustainable practices, and design that enhances our environment by contributing to our health and wellbeing. Tess is a trained and experienced draftsperson.

She also holds a diploma in fine art and has training and experience in a variety of fields, including IT.

James Douglas

Senior Advisor

founding partner of Ruhland & Associates Ltd.’s preceding companies – Douglas Associates Landscape Architects Ltd and Douglas & Ruhland Associates Ltd. Jim continues to provide invaluable professional advice to ongoing projects.  

Marina Malkov

Senior Technician and CADD Operator

Marina has extensive experience as a landscape technician including soil-cell specification and tree soil volume calculations. Marina is highly skilled in Autocad and administers the company standards for Autocad use.  

Neil Kempster

Site Inspector

Neil is retired from the landscape industry and brings his knowledge to inspecting tree plantings and landscape installations. Neil also has a great passion and talent for realism and fantasy paintings, which have been shown in galleries in Ottawa and Grenville Leeds.

Frank Imanzi

Student

Frank joined us a high school co-op student interested in design professions and now joins us on a part time basis. He has since shown great aptitude and initiative. Frank intends to further his education in Landscape Architecture at Dalhousie University in 2020.

Tashfiya Hamid

Office Administration Assistant

Tashfiya is our newest team member with accounting and business background. Tashfiya is excited to contribute to our company in adimistration and other capacities. She enjoys working in a collaborative team environment.
